Our Essentials for Packing When Traveling with Toddlers

Traveling with toddlers might be like planning a miniature expedition, but it goes a lot more smoothly if you have the correct supplies. We have discovered what really makes a difference after taking our kids on a number of excursions. We always bring the following while traveling with a toddler:

Our Essentials for Packing When Traveling with Toddlers

Our go-to entertainment option for the flight or travel days is a little bag of toys. Consider miniature figurines, coloring books, stickers, and water coloring books. In other words, items that are silent and do not roll under airline seats!

Snacks are essential.

We pack a ton of them—snacks that are simple to distribute one at a time and that we know they enjoy. An added bonus is that they are entertaining!

Water and milk bottles: It is important to stay hydrated. If kids are still drinking milk, we make sure to have it available (with backups) and bring their water bottles or sippy cups.

Our secret weapon for long travel days is a tablet with headphones. It gives us a lot of peaceful time and is packed with entertainment and games.

Extra clothing (for all): Spills, diaper blowouts, you name it, accidents happen. It can save your life to have a change of clothes for both you and your kid.

We bring extra diapers, wipes, and changing mats than we anticipate using in case of delays. Changing diapers in confined areas is made much simpler with a small, portable changing mat.

Favorite Blanket or Comfort Item: Having that cherished, cuddly object makes a big impact, whether it is for naps or simply to calm them.

For the Sleep Solution or Travel Crib:

Unless we are staying somewhere that offers a decent one, we bring our own travel crib. They can sleep much better with familiar bedding.

White Noise Machine: Toddlers are light sleepers, and lodgings and rentals can be noisy. A tiny white noise generator aids in establishing a regular sleeping environment.

Portable High Chair or Booster Seat: A foldable seat comes in handy while dining in hotel rooms or Airbnbs.

Dishware & Utensils: If we plan to cook any meals ourselves, we carry a few toddler-friendly bowls, plates, and utensils.

Baby Monitor: This can be really useful if you are in different rooms or even if you just want to hang out on the balcony while they are sleeping.

First Aid Kit: We have Band-Aids, toddler medications (for fever, teething, etc.), and anything else we could need in an emergency.

Just in Case: This lightweight stroller is perfect for city outings, airports, and on-the-go naps.

When strollers are not practical, a baby carrier is ideal.

Detergent Pods & Laundry Bags: Children are messy. We can wash necessities if necessary thanks to a few laundry bags and travel-sized detergent.

We use Ziploc bags for everything, including storing toys, snacks, and soiled clothing.

Travel Documents & Health Information: Their ID (passport if required), immunization records, and insurance information are always kept in a folder.

Being ready is half the battle, as we have discovered (sometimes the hard way!). Although every trip is a little different, this list has kept us organized and prepared for anything, even meltdowns. Although traveling with children is not always simple, it can be enjoyable and unforgettable with a little preparation.
