The New Modern Mom Era: The Intersection of Ambition and Motherhood
I am sharing something very personal with you today: a career change that feels more like coming home than a career shift. After working in the fast-paced world of Silicon Valley tech marketing for more than ten years, I have left my position as a vice president to pursue something much more exciting and, to be honest, much more personal: becoming the full-time founder and CEO of New Modern Mom.

This goes beyond simply changing jobs. It is the progression of a woman who is creating a life where both motherhood and ambition may flourish—loudly, happily, and unapologetically—instead of having to choose between the two.
The Beginnings: A Pandemic and a Google Doc
It was not in a boardroom that a New Modern Mom was born. It began in 2020, when I was on my first maternity leave, a time of uncertainty, loneliness, and incessant Google searches. I investigated everything because I was pregnant during a pandemic, as any nervous overachiever would. And I mean all of it.
My career brain clashed with my nesting instinct. Product comparisons, hospital bag checklists, personal insights, and unvarnished honesty about the emotional rollercoaster of early motherhood were all included in the extensive Google Doc I made. It was requested by friends. Next, friends of friends. Suddenly, a community was emerging in the document's margins.
The lightbulb went out at that moment.
I came to see that I could apply the skills and intuition I had developed as a digital marketer—creating brands, introducing products, and managing teams—to something I was deeply passionate about. I therefore gave it a name, created a logo, created a website, and began disseminating my knowledge.
New Modern Mom is a movement, not just a blog.
It was never the intention of this platform to be just another parenting website. It is a haven for aspirational, inquisitive, and reflective women juggling two very different identities: parenthood and work.
Every post has the same level of research foundation, real-world perspective, and curation that I would put into a new product launch. This is where modern motherhood and modern ambition meet, from stroller breakdowns to professional reinvention. There is no obligation to be flawless, and there are plenty of reasons to be authentic.
My objective? to promote the idea that your aspirations do not have to stop once your baby is born, while also helping to simplify the chaos of parenting. In fact, they may only become louder.
The Reason I Left My Dream Job
When I became vice president, I was 29 years old. It was the "made it" moment, the top of the ladder, the brass ring. However, that gleaming title started to fade with the birth of my daughter. I kept questioning myself, "Is this truly it?"
I made another attempt—a new firm, another VP position—in the hopes that a more intriguing product might rekindle that passion. And for a time, it did. However, I came to the realization that soul-level enthusiasm and academic stimulation are not the same thing after I became pregnant with my second kid.
In all honesty, I no longer desired to divide myself in two. I wanted to create something that would not force me to pick between being there for my children and being happy at work. I adhered to Mindy Kaling's advice, which states that "sometimes you have to make it yourself if you do not see a clear path for what you want."
So I did.
Ten Huge Wins in Just Two Months
It has only been a few months since I started working on New Modern Mom full-time, but the momentum is already evident. A glimpse behind the scenes:
Financial Milestone: It is exciting to know that enthusiasm can pay off because our monthly income has already surpassed my previous tech wage.
Social Growth: Thanks to algorithm wizardry, we surpassed 10,000 Instagram followers with an engagement rate three times higher than the industry average.
Business Foundations: With the help of my husband, our unofficial CFO, we established a S Corp, put up tracking systems and OKRs, and developed a solid growth roadmap.
Team Building: To assist with content operations, newsletters, SEO, and social media, I have put together a formidable micro-team
Learning & Leveling Up: Through blogs, webinars, and podcasts, I have been delving into SEO, digital publishing, and generative AI, applying what I discover to every aspect of the business.
Brand Clarity: We now have a distinct voice, a defined objective, and a long-term vision for the future of New Modern Mom.
Content Expansion: We have already released more than 60 resources, and we have another 30 in the works. These resources cover a wide range of topics, from career pivots to mom guilt to infant necessities.
Creative Fulfillment: It feels amazing to be able to use my abilities to something that genuinely matters to me every single day.
Acquisition Interest: Currently, yes. However, I am not yet prepared to relinquish control.
Mom Moments: The greatest victory, maybe? the capacity to develop my business in between grocery shopping with Caden, swim lessons with Willow, and calm, leisurely mornings with coffee.
What Comes Next?
A Greater, More Courageous Community
My story is not the only aspect of New Modern Mom. The goal is to create a dynamic, changing collective where aspirational women may find support, camaraderie, and some breathing room.
We are establishing an environment where mothers do not need to hide their ambitions, where being vulnerable is accepted, and where they do not have to act like everything is alright. For ladies who wish to raise children and brands, this is for you.
who seek to reinterpret balance as presence rather than perfection.
I am now creating a world that I believe in rather than juggling two.
