Life is not stability it is knowing how to walk in balance

Most people in this world manage their lives in direct opposition to a basic premise of the Universe. They eagerly seek stability and avoid the effort required to walk in balance. It's funny: one of people's most important desires is a great reason for unhappiness and frustration.

There is a fundamental reason to affirm that life is not a question of stability but of balance: the first is associated with a state, while the second is linked to action. And the very fact of living is an act, never a state.

Life is a movie that only ends when it ends, it is not a disjointed set of photographs. No matter how illustrative a photo is, it cannot inevitably represent reality. The same thing happens with any “state”.

On the other hand, can it be assumed that action and stability share a nature? Unfortunately not. Stability is “ the ability of the elements of the structures to withstand actions without overturning or falling,” and “withstanding actions” are very different from being based on them.

Life is a process, it is not the sum of unconnected states. Therefore it is not about stability.

Second, the search for stability consumes enormous amounts of energy. You have to invest a lot of effort to reach a certain state and very soon you have to start all over again, either to protect what you have achieved or to reach other milestones. This requires a lot of energy, and it is not an inexhaustible resource for human beings.

Seeking stability in life is exhausting. It generates vulnerability and frustration. It becomes a process that never ends.

Additionally, and although it may seem otherwise, stability is never associated with security. What level of safety presents a scenario in which energy must be invested to “hold actions without tipping over or falling”? All “states” are always subject to the pressure established by the dynamics of things. For this reason, they are not stable or secure.

This is a tremendous paradox, because “stable” and “stability” are not the same. Stability is a stable quality associated with time. This means that stability is achieved as soon as a stable state can be maintained over time.

Now, it is not necessary to get lost in semantics. It's not about that. It is enough to understand that the search for stability cannot be directly associated with the fact of achieving security, given that the latter, by simple consideration of probabilities, is an unattainable state.

What then is that quality of stability that can eventually lead to stability? Well, that quality is BALANCE.

People who master the complex art of balance are those who come closest to conditions that can be considered safe and operate on the borders of that promised land that represents stability.

The thing is that balance is the first action, no matter how much we speak freely of a “state of balance.” Anyone can easily understand this. For example, balancing the body in difficult physical conditions requires effort, skill, and concentration.

Whoever maintains balance does not fall, and thus fulfills his purpose.

This is interesting. Because the ultimate goal of maintaining balance is not to fall. And by achieving this it can be assumed that the objective (whatever it may be) has been achieved. The forces that oppose the achievement of an end seek to cause it to fall, while acts of balance prevent it.

It must be recognized that there is a powerful force that always plays in favor of balancing acts: concentration. Without it, the tightrope walker would not reach the goal that awaits him at the end of the rope.

In this case, the concentration is oriented toward what matters: the process. He who seeks stability focuses on the objective, while he who masters the art of balance concentrates on what he is doing at the moment. And it's not difficult to anticipate which approach is ultimately more effective.

In short, a “balanced” person is worth gold, because they can maneuver advantageously over the circumstances of life. He does not stop to wait for the onslaught of the waves, he climbs onto them and takes advantage of their energy to flow with events.

It is not easy to develop the skills required for balance, but there is a fundamental starting point: not seeking stability. Avoiding this leaves you off the wrong path and takes your starting position on the correct route.

The balanced being guides his actions by that timeless advice from Wayne Dyer: “Maintain an open mind to everything and without any type of ties.” It is not dogmatic. He never thinks for someone else's head. He flees from the herd and its dynamics. He knows well that there is a lot to learn from everyone and everything. He therefore recognizes that no one has the absolute answers and that the only label that must be respected is that of “seeker of truth.”

Likely, it is not up to human beings to find all the answers they are looking for, but it is required of them to search. And this is at odds with stability.

The balanced being is an artist. Always build. Creates. Find solutions and establish alternatives. Because knowing how to live is not a mechanical act, it is an art. It is not a deterministic process, it is simply a process.

Surely walking the “middle path ” is a resource of the balanced person, and being equanimous is a condition that allows it. Understanding that life summons fighters or victims possibly comforts him in his paths, but not seeking stability is the decision that distinguishes him.

There is no reason to be afraid of the intrinsic instability that life poses. In reality, this is nothing more than an illusion of those who do not appreciate things and events with perspective. For this reason, what is the end for the worm is only the beginning for the butterfly.

You have to understand the things of the Universe with a holistic vision, serenity, and humility.

The world is bombarded by news of calamities and misfortunes. Speculation does not cease regarding the imminent end of everything good. When any test is passed, it is only a preamble to another. This is how the human mind is consumed, without pause or mercy.

In the shadow of this tent of negativity, it seems logical to yearn for stability at any cost. But the bleak outlook is just an illusion.

There is nothing stable in life and the Universe that is not a product of the balance reached by the phenomena and their components. There wasn't and there won't be. Everything is change, flow, transformation.

Appreciating this reality develops perspective and nullifies illusion.

Therefore do not be afraid. Don't look for stability, Hurray!

Work hard to achieve the balance that the hike demands.

Those who achieve wisdom can testify to what the certificate of the victors says. He says, without exaggeration or modesty, the following: “This was a balanced being.”
